The Boys & Girls Club of Sierra Vista offers a variety of programs at their facility. One particular program that’s a favorite in the club is the “Be a Chef! program”. The program gives the teen members a opportunity to explore a different interest in culinary.
The club recently took a visit to the Philadelphia Baking Company to see what they do and how their day to day operations work.
The owner Samuel “Soup” Campbell talked to the members about how his business started and the different kind of pastries and foods they serve.
“I really enjoyed the visit, I learned a lot...Mr. Campbell is a great guy!” said 15-year-old Jordan Jackson.
He also gave the members a chance to make their own cupcakes and decorate them with frosting.
“He has some really good food here and I will come here and eat all the time,”said 15-year-old Josiah Hidalgo.
The program would not have been a success without the help of local restaurants in the community volunteering their time to support the club. Local restaurants in the community such as Native, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse, Subway and many more; have shown the members how to make different menu items from their menu.
“Mr. Campbell is a great guy and he has an amazing business in the community, everyone should support this business a hundred percent,” said Detric Miles, clubhouse director.
